Mohammedia, a city without slums, is a dream that will undoubtedly not be realised anytime soon because of the thorny problems of poor management that this file is experiencing and the intervention of a good number of actors known in Mohammedia. Due to its strategic position between Casablanca and Rabat and its current development, Mohammedia is concerned by the Cities without Slums programme announced in 2004 for 85 targeted cities. 47 have obtained the long-awaited "V.S.D" title, except of course the city of Mohammedia. As proof, the photos that speak for themselves taken on the Boulevard de la Résistance, one of the largest boulevards in the city. Thus, unsanitary housing, slums, anarchic construction, continue to tarnish the image of the city of flowers. Yet "the right to housing is recognised as a social right. The Universal Declaration of Human Rights of 1948 recognises in its article 25-1 that this right is part of social rights". The same applies to article 31 of the new Constitution. It is time to restore Fedala to its former glory. Is it not known for being the city of flowers and elegant sports? It goes without saying that unsanitary housing cannot be reduced to the sole question of poverty. A solution must be found in order to eradicate it once and for all. So, gentlemen decision-makers and elected officials of our city, you know what you have to do. For the record, the late Hassan II used to call Mohammedia the "Deauville of Morocco".
