CODM-MAS match marred by acts of vandalism: We narrowly avoided the worst in Meknès

Acts of vandalism are resuming with the restart of the national Pro-Elite-1 championship. Thus, a catastrophe was narrowly avoided on Sunday, February 10, during the CODM-MAS match counting for the 16th day. Seventeen COD Meknès supporters were injured to varying degrees after the collapse of part of the fencing that separates the pitch from the stands at the Honneur stadium in Meknès. The incident, caused by a stampede of supporters, occurred just after the first goal scored by the Fassi club in the second half. According to a medical source, the injured, aged between 13 and 26, were evacuated to the Mohammed V hospital in Meknès where they received the necessary care. Only one person - fortunately, moreover - suffering from a broken nose, was transported to the Moulay Ismail hospital, while the others left the hospital, according to the same source. Indeed, the protégés of the Algerian Azzedine Ait Djoudi beat COD Meknès, bottom of the table, 2-1 thanks to goals from Mohamed Ali Bamâamer (80th) and Ahmed Ajeddou (90th), while the only goal for the locals was the work of Faisal Benkassou (90+9th, penalty). The Massaouis, who wanted to catch up with the leading trio, succeeded during this first outing after the break in joining FUS Rabat in 4th place, which drew 0-0 last Saturday away at Olympic Safi. For its part, AS FAR provisionally joined Raja at the top of the standings thanks to its 2-1 victory over Chabab Rif Al-Hoceima (CRA), at the Prince Moulay Abdellah sports complex in Rabat. The Military team was able to secure the three points thanks to goals from Salaheddine Akkal (5th) and Mustapha Allaoui (77th), while the only goal for the Rifains was signed by Ismail Bassour (64th).

Hassania Agadir beat Difaâ Hassani El Jadida by 1 goal to zero, at the municipal stadium of Taroudant. The Gadiris, whose Al Inbiâat stadium was banned from competition by the Royal Moroccan Football Federation due to the catastrophic state of the pitch, won thanks to a goal from Khalid Lebhij (78th). Thus, Hassania takes 6th place, 2 points ahead of its opponent of the day, which is in 8th position. Widad Fès was forced to a draw by KAC Kénitra (0-0) at the Fès sports complex. At the end of this 9th draw this season, the Fassis are still in 12th place with 15 points on their counter. The Sebou riders, who have just conceded their 7th draw against 2 wins and 7 losses, remain side by side in 13th place with Renaissance Berkane, which also drew 1-1 against Moghreb Tétouan, the title holder, last Friday at the Saniat R'mel stadium in the city of the white dove, in the opening of this day. The OCK-WAC match was to close this day on Monday, February 11 at 7 p.m.
