An educational and cultural garden fully connected to the high-speed network, Ârsat Moulay Abdeslam has just undergone a major facelift and in-depth changes have been made by "Maroc Telecom".
A true metamorphosis. Those who remember the Ârsat Moulay Abdeslam cyber park will certainly have a surprise when discovering the new face of this garden steeped in history which offers freshness and relaxation in the heart of the city of Marrakech. This educational and cultural garden, fully connected to the high-speed network and equipped with interactive kiosks, has indeed just undergone a major facelift and in-depth changes thanks to "Maroc Telecom", which has invested enormously to provide the Ochre City with a jewel allowing both locals and visitors to treat themselves to a green break and breathe deeply.
Recent renovation work has breathed a new spirit into the park by guaranteeing the safeguarding and regeneration of its plant heritage. In this context, more than 13,000 shrubs and 225 new trees have been planted with a view to preserving and enriching the garden's plant life, in compliance with its concept and landscape atmospheres. The cyber park can also show all its charm in the evening by revealing the nocturnal magic of the place, insofar as the lighting network has been entirely renovated with, in particular, the installation of more than 300 floodlights and more than 150 LED spots and bulbs. Also, a plant waste zone has been created with three composting bins allowing part of the park's plant losses to be recycled and transformed by natural biosynthesis processes into fertilising compost.
The work also focused on the generalisation of the drip irrigation system, the installation of two photovoltaic energy production stations to allow the equivalent of 20,000 bulbs to be powered per day and to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, the renovation of the Telecom museum through, in particular, the renewal of the collection of exhibited objects and the photographic exhibition, as well as the installation of 11 interactive "High tech" "Totem" kiosks allowing access to very high-speed Internet and hosting a multilingual application and content designed especially around the cyber park, tourism in Marrakech and sustainable development.
Other achievements concerned the park's signage, which was replaced and enriched in compliance with the Charter of the Mohammed VI Foundation for Environmental Protection, the facilitation of access for multi-service vehicles and emergency vehicles, the labelling of some 86 trees and shrubs with informative signage, the restoration of the historic wall that delimits the South side of the park and the repair of 550 linear metres of the fence and the installation of 4,400 metal rods. At the same time, the Ârsat Moulay Abdeslam cyber park is now accessible to people with reduced mobility. The project to upgrade accessibility infrastructure has made it possible to apply the most demanding international standards in this area to the architectural layout. Having more than 300 years of existence, the park offers a detour to an old princely garden dating from the 18th century and where one can walk the same paths taken by the contemporaries of the founding prince of the Ârsa, Moulay Abdeslam, and appreciate the Moroccan art of gardens during the reign of Sidi Mohammed Ben Abdellah (1710-1790)
