With the arrival of the great heat, people flee the inland cities towards the coast to enjoy the mild weather, the pleasures of the sea, and the festive atmosphere of the cornices. However, Marrakech is an exception. In these times of heatwave, the number of tourists, both national and foreign, continues to increase. Some wonder about the reasons for this rush, despite a temperature that varies between 40 and 48°. The answer is, however, simple. Marrakech has known, throughout its history, how to reconcile tradition and modernity, poverty and wealth. If some today present Marrakech as a city where only the jet-set has the means to have a good time, they are wrong. It is enough to take a tour, in these times of great heat, around the Jamaâ El Fna square, Boulevard Mohammed VI, or even El Waha in the Agdal gardens, to discover the true identity of Marrakech. The older generation tells us with pleasure about those extraordinary evenings spent on the Avenue de France, today called Boulevard Mohammed VI, or even at the Jamaâ El Fna square. Well, nothing has changed! People from everywhere still go to these places today and discover, with the same pleasure, this joy of living that makes Marrakech unique. Their charm and their place in people's imagination, the security provided by the police forces, make and will always make these places in particular and Marrakech in general a popular destination.
