The kick-off of an awareness campaign, initiated by the Al Hoceima-Nador Regional Human Rights Commission, was given recently in Driouche, under the banner “For a citizen approach to the fight against narcotics in the school environment”. This operation mainly aims at the fight against all kinds of drugs, violence, and uncivil behaviour within schools, in addition to the phenomenon of harassment, indicated Mohamed El Hammouchi, a member of the Regional Commission in a statement to the MAP on the sidelines of this event. This campaign, which is experiencing great mobilisation from students, the teaching staff, and coordinators of Citizenship and Human Rights Education Clubs, relies, on one hand, on the judicial approach by communicating on the criminal consequences that these practices are liable to, and on the other hand, on the health aspect, by revealing the threats that narcotics represent for human health, added Mr El Hammouchi. On the programme of this campaign, organised in partnership with the Ministry of Health delegation and the National Education and Vocational Training delegation, with the support of the Driouche province, are screenings of educational films, the distribution of leaflets and awareness posters on the dangers of drugs, as well as presentations on the legal provisions provided against traffickers and users of narcotics. This event, which will continue until 15 May, is part of the implementation of the recommendations of the consultation meeting organised in Driouche last April. These recommendations underline that the promotion of a culture of human rights in society is capable of preventing delinquency and drug consumption by children.
