Some 1,200 needy people from the commune of Béni-Gorfet (Larache province) benefited from a multidisciplinary medical caravan organized last weekend at the initiative of doctors and paramedical staff from the public sector.
This medical campaign, initiated in coordination with the Oyoune Al-Mostakbal Association for development, culture, and environmental protection, welcomed approximately 1,200 inhabitants of the Douars of the Béni-Gorfet commune to benefit from free medical screenings and diagnoses, under the supervision of a medical staff composed of 33 specialized doctors, nurses, and pharmacists, indicates a statement from the Association of Public Health Doctors in Tétouan, M'diq, and Fnideq.
It intends to provide various services in gynaecology, paediatrics, rheumatology, dermatology, otolaryngology, gastroenterology, ultrasound, cardiology, and diabetology, reports the MAP.
Quoted by the statement, the secretary-general of the Association of Public Health Doctors in Tétouan, Hoceim Azouz, affirmed that this campaign is a civic initiative by medical staff to guarantee the region's population access to specialized health services, stressing that this caravan reflects the spirit of solidarity of the staff, nurses, and pharmacists with the needy categories.
It also constitutes an opportunity to raise awareness about prevention methods against certain diseases, support fragile categories, particularly women, children, and the elderly, and meet their health and medication needs, he added.
For his part, the president of the Oyoune Al-Mostakbal Association for development, culture, and environmental protection, Idriss Marso, estimated that the organization of this medical caravan, which is part of a partnership established with the Association of Public Health Doctors in Tétouan, aims to raise awareness among the rural population about the importance of early diagnosis to control certain dangerous diseases that require a diet and specialized medical intervention.
The Association of Public Health Doctors in Tétouan plans to organize, during the coming months, another multidisciplinary medical caravan in the Tétouan province and the M'diq-Fnideq prefecture as part of its social programme for the current year.
