Depriving the population of the Ahdil commune in Chichaoua of subsidized flour

Chichaoua – Al-Ousboue

The population of the Ahdil commune, belonging to the Chichaoua province, complains of a significant shortage of subsidized flour, which is distributed among the beneficiary centers in the various prefectures and provinces of the Kingdom, especially in light of the continued drought.

According to local sources, this shortage is due to the delay of the local authorities under the Ahdil leadership in delivering administrative certificates to importers of this vital material, which was a reason for depriving a group of poor families and the vulnerable of subsidized flour, especially since this subsidy relieves many of them of the cost of weekly shopping.

In light of the current shortage of flour, merchants in the region are forced to travel to the center of the Sidi Mokhtar commune to bring subsidized flour, the price of which is set at 100 dirhams determined by the government, but with the cost and expenses of transportation, its price jumps to 150 dirhams and more.

The process of distributing subsidized flour among the centers, according to a committee that includes several departments, requires setting a list of commercial shops that have obtained a “quota” for selling subsidized flour from the local authority or the economic and social department in the province, but it is noted that there is a slowdown by the local authorities in providing certificates to supply the population and poor families with subsidized flour.

The law stipulates that every citizen benefits from this material subsidized by the state, and in case the supply does not cover the demand, the authority can organize the benefit process in rotation, or allocate one bag for two families, and the benefit is once a month.
