Sidi Belyout celebrates spring

Casablanca is currently living to the rhythm of the festivities of the third edition of the "Spring of Sidi Belyout", an annual festival organised by the Sidi Belyout district. This Festival, which has been enlivening the artistic scene in Casablanca for four years, returns for a fifth edition, with the theme "The old Medina, civilisation, heritage and cohabitation of arts and cultures". The festivities, which began on Tuesday 29 April, last for six days, during which the population of Sidi Belyout will enjoy theatre, songs, music and debates. Citizens will therefore be invited to a series of artistic shows and cultural events. Among the highlights of this event, the inaugural musical evening, which took place on Tuesday evening at the School of Fine Arts, and which saw the participation of the singer Rachida Talal, the young XFactor winner Mohamed Rifi, alongside Abidat Erma and a group of Issawa. Lovers of visual arts were able to appreciate, on the second day of the festival, three exhibitions dedicated to visual arts, crafts and the art of photography.

A round table on the theme "Memory of the old Medina" will be on the programme for the third day, followed by the performance of a play, then an Andalusian musical evening as well as tributes to Mohammed Batouli and Mustapha Belqaid. The programme will continue for the fourth day with a cultural competition for the benefit of pupils from primary and middle schools. On the fifth day, the organisers have planned a training workshop with local associations on the theme: "Creativity in associative action", as well as an evening dedicated to popular music. Sunday will be dedicated to children. Several entertainment activities will be devoted to them, including two fairs. Vibrant tributes will also be paid to true monuments of the national artistic and cultural scene. And this at the initiative of Kamal Dissaoui, president of the Sidi Belyout district, who has always been aware of the need to pay such tributes to our authentic artists. This fifth edition of the "Spring of Sidi Belyout", which will continue its activities until 4 May, promises a rich and varied programme. Musical shows, theatrical performances, meeting-debates, exhibitions and murals as well as sports competitions will be on the agenda. Through the succession of editions, the "Spring of Sidi Belyout" festival has achieved its objective, namely to create a dynamic and cultural and artistic animation in Sidi Belyout and at the level of the whole city of Casablanca. This Festival also aims to be a crossroads for meetings and exchanges between the different cultural and artistic components of the country. Editions for all tastes. The project of the spring festival of Sidi Belyout was born after the success of the "Ramadanyate" Festival, organised each month of Ramadan in the same district, which received a favourable welcome from the Casablanca population, due to the quality and richness of its programme. The idea of a cultural spring in Sidi Belyout was also born from an observation of the cultural diversity of the White City. Thus the Festival has the ambition to disclose and highlight this Casablanca specificity. During the previous editions, the organisers chose to focus on the different cultures, Sahrawi, popular, Amazigh or even Andalusian. Throughout these "cultural breaths", Casablancans and visitors were treated to shows and activities inspired by these cultural practices.
