"Symphonies of Silence", which will continue until July 6, offers two complementary aesthetic reflections on silence, between minimalism and spirituality, treating a modern and contemporary vision with a singular gestural style.
Through about twenty canvases, the two painters immerse the public in the meanders of the mind, the imagination, and spirituality, silence thus allowing every creator to focus on their "inner self" to meditate and create.
In a statement to MAP, the artist Aziz Azrhai considered that art does not necessarily have the vocation of transmitting an explicit message; it is the sensitive dimension of the work and the way the spectator reacts to it, emphasizing that his role consists above all in provoking an emotional and personal interaction with the public, rather than imposing a univocal meaning.
In this perspective, he explained that the choice of the theme "Symphonies of Silence", conceived with his colleague Larbi Cherkaoui, evokes the idea that silence can also be a carrier of meaning and resonance.
For his part, the painter Larbi Cherkaoui indicated that the project for this exhibition was born from a shared friendship with Azrhai, each bringing their own artistic sensitivity.
"While Azrhai explores expressionist abstraction more, I have registered myself in an approach based on calligraphy, but approached in a contemporary and abstract way," he specified.
For him, the exhibition constitutes a form of artistic and symbolic accumulation of elements derived from Moroccan heritage.
According to the exhibition curator, Ms. Tania Chorfi, the choice of the theme "Symphonies of Silence" is explained by the fact that the works of the two artists bring the spectator into a state of meditation and silence, noting, in passing, that the next exhibition in the gallery's program is scheduled for the month of October.
The artist Cherkaoui deploys a modern research on the aesthetics of the Arabic letter. His technique, based on expressive gesture, questions the Arabic letter in terms of form, volume, movement, circularity, or even sinuosity.
The artist Azrhai engages in a reflection around colour by opting for a limited palette, thus translating his inclination for minimalism and silence. This choice opens a space for free interpretation, inviting the spectator to interact freely with his work.
The Banque Centrale Populaire (BCP) group, through the Banque Populaire gallery, has assigned itself the mission of accompanying and supporting local cultural and artistic dynamics by hosting exhibitions of confirmed or emerging artists and artisans.
