This event, placed under the theme "Remember, Build, Together," saw the participation of the Embassy of the Republic of Rwanda in the Kingdom of Morocco, the Rwandan community in Morocco and friends of Rwanda, members of the diplomatic corps accredited to the Kingdom, as well as Moroccan officials.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nasser Bourita, was also welcomed to the event as a guest of honour.
It should be recalled that April 7 was designated by the UN in 2020 as the International Day of Reflection on the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda.
By virtue of the General Assembly resolution of April 20, 2020, all UN member states, as well as organisations and civil societies, are urged to honour the memory of the victims of the genocide.
"The tragedy of Rwanda is a warning. The process of division and extremism that leads to genocide can happen anywhere if left unchecked. Today, it is all Rwandans who have overcome fear. Nothing can be worse than what we have already experienced."
As is customary every year from April 7 to July 3, commemorative activities (international conferences, educational programmes for young people, etc.) are organised in Rwanda and around the world to commemorate the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda.
