The city of Ouarzazate is hosting the fifth edition of the International Handicrafts Meeting from 1 to 20 April. Some 276 artisans from thirteen countries will exhibit their most beautiful creations at El Mouahidine Square. The theme of this edition, "Handicrafts bring us together", brings together artists from Tunisia, Syria, Kurdistan Iraq, Pakistan, France, Senegal, Egypt, Lebanon, the United Arab Emirates, Ivory Coast, Indonesia, as well as Moroccan "mâalems" representing local associations and cooperatives. Palestine will be the guest of honour for the 2015 edition.
Organised by the Professional Federation of Handicrafts of Ouarzazate, this meeting represents an opportunity to create a platform for meetings between professionals in the sector. It also aims to facilitate access for stakeholders to know-how in the field of new techniques and processes for the promotion and marketing of handicraft products. Furthermore, participants can exchange their experiences and interact with each other. The programme for the fifth edition of the International Handicrafts Meeting includes conferences and workshops on several themes. The organisers also plan competitions and training sessions that bring together experts in the field of handicrafts. The event will be marked by a fashion show of traditional clothing, a blood donation campaign, artistic evenings, visits, and fantasia shows. This meeting held in favour of promoting the creativity of handicrafts aims to show the public of Ouarzazate the diversity of local arts and crafts. A public invited to discover the works and talent of the "mâalems".
