Ouarzazate discovers a new identity

Ouarzazate discovers a new identity

A series of museums will soon be opened in Ouarzazate. Included in the framework of a development plan for the city's tourism potential, these museums focus on highlighting the riches of this destination. One of the projects for which work has been completed is the Tazouda CR Iminoulaouene Dinosaur Museum. In addition to strengthening the region's tourism and cultural animation facilities, this museum is part of the protection and scientific enhancement of the site and its fossils. Note that the fossils discovered on the site date back about 180 million years. The total cost of this project was around 65,000,000 dirhams. The work also allowed for the interior design as well as the installation of museology equipment over an area of 1,400 m² composed of several exhibition spaces, a cafeteria, the dinosaur pit discovered on site, the development of a car park, and a track leading to the museum. This new museum allows for the establishment of a tourist circuit that highlights the Ouarzazate province and the M'goun Geopark. As a reminder, the construction of the building housing the museum was carried out as part of a partnership between the Deriquels family, the provincial council, the SMD region, and the rural commune of Iminoulaouene. It should be noted that the work has been completed. What remains today is the installation of a scenography. The second museum on the destination's list is the project for the construction of a mines and rocks museum, for which work has not yet begun. This project is still in the phase of receiving plans. This museum consists of the construction and equipping of a building over an area of 1,850 m². Composed of several exhibition spaces, an administration, a café-restaurant, a multi-purpose room, and 6 shops. It will also be equipped with a car park and exterior landscaping. The budget allocated to this museum is around 8,500,000 DH. The third museum is for its part dedicated to the promotion of the region's biodiversity. With the work completed, those in charge are currently focusing on the scenography of this space. The promotion of a fourth artisanal component is also on the programme. Known for its tapestry, the city plans to highlight its potential in the field via the construction of a carpet museum. On this side too, the work has progressed well. The final touches concerning the accessories and internal organisation are underway. The opening of these various museums can only bring a plus to the destination.
