As part of the strategic project to supply electricity to the Nador West Med (NWM) port complex, the National Office for Electricity and Drinking Water (ONEE) has successfully energized the first 225 kV line connecting the 225/60kV Selouane substation to the Nador West Med site.
With a length of 31 kilometres, this extra-high voltage line constitutes an essential link in the main power supply system for the new Nador West Med port, ONEE specifies in a press release.
Its construction mobilised significant human and technical resources as well as the effective support of local authorities, which allowed the work to be completed within the allotted time, the same source explains.
This new line, which will supply the AEOLON wind turbine blade manufacturing plant, the first industrial player to set up at the NWM Port, is part of a vast power supply project for the port complex, led by ONEE, reports MAP.
These infrastructures will make it possible to sustainably meet the electrical energy needs of both the port complex and the future industries that will be established there, thus constituting a major lever for the economic development of the Oriental region and the Kingdom, notes the press release.
