Under the theme: 'Green Generation: Local products are a fundamental pillar for the development of the social and solidarity economy', the Agricultural Chamber of the Drâa-Tafilalet region, the Regional Directorate of Agriculture, and the National Agency for the Development of Oasis and Argan Zones, in cooperation with the Wilaya of the Drâa-Tafilalet region, the Midelt province, and a number of institutional partners, are organising the fifth edition of the Regional Exhibition of Local Products, from July 04 to 07, 2025, in the city of Midelt.
A statement from the organisers mentioned that this professional event 'falls within the framework of implementing the contents of the 'Green Generation 2020–2030' strategy, launched by the Ministry of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development and Water and Forests, which prioritises supporting solidarity-based agriculture, stimulating local production chains, and encouraging economic interest groups, agricultural cooperatives, and agricultural enterprises of a social and local nature.'
This edition, the source adds, comes 'in an exceptional context, marked by the coincidence of the Regional Exhibition of Local Products with the celebration of the International Day of Cooperatives, which falls on July 5th of each year, which gives this event an additional international dimension, and confirms the status of cooperatives as a real lever for achieving sustainable development goals. This meeting between the local and international dimensions also aims to highlight the pivotal role played by cooperatives, especially agricultural ones, in consolidating the principles of solidarity, social inclusion, and territorial justice, as well as highlighting their qualitative contribution to the success of the Green Generation goals.'
According to the same statement, 'the choice of the city of Midelt to host this fifth edition is a culmination of the accumulated experience of the Agricultural Chamber of the Drâa-Tafilalet region in organising this exhibition since its first edition, and a consecration of the territorial rotation sponsored by the Agricultural Chamber across the five provinces of the region. This choice also reflects the richness of the province and its agricultural, natural, cultural, and mountainous potential, which make it a vital platform for hosting such events of regional and national dimension.'
This exhibition is considered an economic and developmental space that combines the display and promotion of local products, capacity building, and stimulating scientific and professional dialogue, through an integrated programme that includes:
In addition to the institutional pole, there is a space for display and direct marketing, with the participation of 100 cooperatives, including 90 agricultural cooperatives (60 from within the Drâa-Tafilalet region, and 30 from other regions), and 10 cooperatives active in the field of handicrafts, which reflects the diversity of the offer and the integration of institutional, professional, and cooperative presence.
In addition to training workshops organised throughout the days of the exhibition within its spaces, for the benefit of representatives of cooperatives and economic interest groups, in vital areas including health safety, marketing, quality, administrative and financial management, and economic and social empowerment of women and youth. The Agricultural Chamber has adopted an effective methodology based on representing each cooperative with two people: one to display the product, and the other to benefit from the training, which enhances professional and marketing empowerment at the same time.
On the academic and scientific side, a scientific symposium will be organised on Sunday, July 6, moderated by a group of experts, university professors, and professionals, and will address three main axes, including the promotion of products through quality, packaging, and innovation; their marketing through distribution chains, e-commerce, and markets; and the structuring of the cooperative sector through governance, financing, and building partnerships.
The exhibition is organised by a multidisciplinary team, including general coordinators, and scientific, organisational, technical, and cultural committees, with the contribution of representatives from the Agricultural Chamber, ministerial institutions, regional authorities, and territorial communes, in addition to strategic partners at the regional, provincial, and national levels, including: the Wilaya of the Drâa-Tafilalet region, the Midelt province, the Midelt Provincial Council, the Regional Directorate of Agriculture, the Regional Directorate of Agricultural Consulting, the Regional Directorate of Health Safety for Food Products, the Agency for the Development of Oasis and Argan Zones, the Agency for Agricultural Development, the Social Development Agency, the Office for the Development of Cooperation, and the Regional Directorate of Culture.
The statement concluded that 'this fifth edition comes as a culmination of five years of experience and the accumulation of ideas and field practices, and constitutes a pivotal station for strengthening the developmental vision of the Agricultural Chamber, and opens new horizons towards integrating the social and solidarity economy into the heart of the territorial transformations experienced by the Drâa-Tafilalet region.'
