Health provision is strengthened in Khouribga

The inauguration and launch, in Khouribga, of two health projects with a total cost of more than 19 million dirhams, aiming to bring medical services closer to citizens and to consolidate the quality of health provision.

The Minister of Health, Houcine El Ouardi, proceeded on Saturday to the inauguration of a maternity home in the rural commune of Chakrane (municipality of Bejaâd) and gave the starting signal for the construction work of the "Annahar" hospital, which falls under the Hassan II provincial hospital in Khouribga, for a total investment of more than 19 million dirhams (MDH).

These two projects are part of the proximity policy aimed at reducing maternal and infant mortality, bringing medical services closer to citizens and consolidating the quality of health provision in order to meet the expectations and aspirations of the local population.

The maternity home, built on an area of 160 m2 for an amount of more than 1 million dirhams, thanks to funding from the Ministry of Health, will contribute to improving and consolidating health provision in Bejaâd and facilitating the access of the rural population to basic health care, particularly pregnant women who struggle to travel to the province's health centres.

It will also help to alleviate congestion in the province's hospitals, create favourable conditions for childbirth and provide good medical services.

This health facility, which will benefit some 1,288 families, includes two delivery rooms, rooms for monitoring childbirth, waiting rooms, supply rooms, and rooms for examination, hospitalisation, sterilisation, reception and security, in addition to health infrastructure and a pharmacy.

Houcine El Ouardi, who was accompanied by a delegation composed notably of the governor of the Khouribga province, Abdellatif Cheddali, and the presidents of the local scientific council and the provincial and municipal councils, also gave, on this occasion, the starting signal for the construction work of the "Annahar" hospital for a cost of 18 million dirhams.

This project aims to meet the needs of the local population, modernise medical equipment, consolidate health provision and improve the quality of health services and the working conditions of professionals.

The hospital, which will be built on a total area of 5,000 m2, of which 1,204 m2 is covered, and which will benefit approximately 517,000 people, is composed of the "Annahar" health department and the medical examination department.

The Minister also visited, on the same occasion, the Moulay Youssef urban health centre in Khouribga, after its rehabilitation and development, to learn about the basic health services offered to the city's population.

Houcine El Ouardi also held a communication meeting with local elected officials and representatives of civil society to examine the situation of the health sector and discuss issues related to the medical system at the provincial level and its shortcomings, which essentially concern the level of infrastructure, health equipment, as well as human resources.

This meeting was also an opportunity to present the proposals of elected officials, local actors and various stakeholders to promote this vital sector and to reach solutions to the problems raised.
