When you think about it, it is not just agricultural drought due to a lack of rain; there is also cultural drought due to a lack of related activities. This is the case for the city of Khénifra, which is currently experiencing a deep daydream, with the exception of two or three sociocultural activities organised annually, whether on the short story, theatre, or visual arts. According to official statistics, there are only 630 associations in the city of Khénifra, all categories combined. Most of these entities, created in due form, remain without activities, without life, and without a soul. This stagnant situation is, to say the least, annoyingly surprising. It can only hinder and harm the future of the Khénifra youth in particular and the sociocultural environment of the region in general.
This cultural void, in truth, is caused by certain "leaders" of chimerical associations, who only drive the knife deeper into a wound that has been open for a long time. Let us take the case of the sociocultural festival organised by the city's municipality a few years ago, which only saw two editions before being "buried" once and for all by its organisers, making the red city of the Zayane a poor relation of an entire region on the cultural level, without taking into account the significant potential of men of letters, poetry, theatre, and eminent teachers active in the heart of the city. The majority of Khénifra citizens are questioning this singular situation, marked by the total absence of the "bosses" of certain cultural associations, whose absolute duty consists of relaunching, within a precise framework and according to their statutes, the various cultural potentials of the city. The ball is therefore in the court of the authorities and local elected officials to proceed with the awakening of these ephemeral, almost ghostly associations. Is this responsibility not one of the duties of the Municipal Council, as stipulated in Article 30, Chapter IV of the Municipal Charter?
It should be emphasised that the ultimate goal is not the gratuitous criticism of the leaders of these associations who must, first and foremost, renew their boards and simply highlight their passivity and the problems encountered. Certainly, multiple doldrums exist, but so do solutions. It is clear that these entities should not be conceived as "springboards", but rather as a responsibility that must be fully assumed vis-à-vis the citizens. It is therefore time to review, within a democratic framework, new structures from a transparent angle and to heal, from now on, the wounds of the past, so that the city of Khénifra can begin a new sociocultural stage full of vitality and dynamism, whose prestigious past has marked our history.
SOS culture! The people of Khénifra, unanimously, express the wish that local associations become aware of the tasks they must assume to implement them, with dedication and self-denial, in order to fill the void of our young people on whom the future of our society, and by extension our country, will rest. "A healthy culture for the well-being of the populations" is, therefore, the fundamental and sacrosanct motto that should prevail. Let us note, finally, that the construction work for a large building, which will house the cultural complex in the centre of the city of Khénifra, has been completed for a long time. The doors of this important institution remain closed for reasons that the citizens are unaware of, while hoping that this problem will be resolved as soon as possible. It is a wish that remains thirsty for a well-ordered culture...

Plea for the "awakening" of cultural associations
