After 19 days during which the fishermen working in the artisanal fishing sector had decreed the cessation of their activities and after four sit-ins in front of the provincial delegation of fisheries of Boujdour, the various unions represented in Boujdour decided to move to another stage of protest by organizing this march to get the public authorities to take into account their grievance relating to the increase in the individual quota granted to artisanal fishing boats. This quota, which is 600 kg per boat, must be aligned with that granted to their colleagues in Dakhla which is set at 3 tons or those in Tarfaya for whom a flat rate of 80 kg per day has been granted. Octopus being among the most highly valued fishing products at the international level.
It should be noted that the fishermen enjoy the support of several elected officials and associative and political actors of the province to achieve their demands. They criticized the silence of the governor of the province whom they hold responsible for all their misfortunes and whose passivity and lack of reaction they denounce.
