CAF Cup: Renaissance de Berkane wins at home against Simba SC
The Renaissance Sportive de Berkane (RSB) beat the Tanzanian team Simba SC with a score of 2 goals to 0 (half-time 2-0), on Saturday at the Berkane Municipal Stadium, in the first leg of the CAF Confederation Cup final.

The Berkanis, crowned champions of Morocco this year for the first time in their history, are aiming for a third title in this competition after their victories in 2020 and 2022.
The men of Tunisian coach Mouaine Chaabani had eliminated the Algerian club CS Constantine in the semi-finals (first leg 4-0, return leg 0-1).
For their part, the Tanzanians secured their ticket to the final at the expense of South Africa's Stellenbosch FC (first leg 1-0, return leg 0-0).

The scoring was opened by Mamadou Camara, who, following a corner kick, jumped higher than everyone else to head the ball into the back of the net (8th minute).
The Berkanis stunned the Tanzanians by doubling the lead seven minutes later.

Taking advantage of a defensive error, Oussama Lemlioui did not miss the opportunity and managed to increase the lead (15th minute). Torn between the duty to secure their defense and the desire to move forward, the Tanzanians timidly worried Mounir Lamhamdi in the first half.

The Berkanis, who made their experience count, were close to scoring a 3rd goal many times, but the Simba SC goalkeeper was vigilant and managed to save the day. During the second half, the visitors played all or nothing, while the locals opted for counter-attacks with the aim of scoring a third goal that would put them in a safe position for the return leg.

The RSB almost scored in the 62nd minute thanks to Youssef Mihri, but his goal was disallowed by VAR.
The return leg of the final is scheduled for next Sunday (4:00 PM) in Tanzania.
