Berkane – The Renaissance Sportive de Berkane (RSB) qualified for the semi-finals of the CAF Confederation Cup, after its victory against the Ivorian team ASEC Mimosas with a score of 1 goal to 0 (half-time 0-0), Wednesday evening at the municipal stadium of Berkane, in the quarter-final second leg.
The RSB had won 1 goal to 0, last Wednesday in the first leg match in Abidjan.
During the first period, the Ivorians tried to surprise the Berkane formation and score as early as possible, while the Orange, aware that their victory in the first leg was a "trap result", tried to impose their dominance but without managing to find the breach in the ASEC defense.
In the second period, the locals returned with the same playing intentions, in order to secure the qualification ticket to the final four.
Their efforts were rewarded in the 76th minute, following a goal signed by Oussama Lamlioui, who, after a powerful low shot at the entrance to the penalty area, managed to deceive the vigilance of the Ivorian goalkeeper and reassure his team.
The protégés of Mouine Chaabani, true regulars of this competition, are two-time winners of the CAF Confederation Cup trophy in 2020 and 2022, and two-time finalists in 2019 and 2024.
Renaissance Berkane will face in the semi-final the winner of the duel between the Algerians of CS Constantine and USM Alger.
The other semi-final will pit the Tanzanians of Simba Sports against the South Africans of Stellenbosch.
