2026-2027 Hunting Season: The ANEF presents the assessment of the first day

2026-2027 Hunting Season: The ANEF presents the assessment of the first day
During this first day, approximately 9 offence reports were drawn up in different regions of the Kingdom. Results: The first day of the 2026-2027 hunting season took place under good conditions. The average number of partridges harvested was 1.91 per hunter. The Marrakech-Safi region recorded the highest level, with 2.41 partridges per hunter. The National Agency for Water and Forests (ANEF) informs that the first day of the 2026-2027 hunting season, which opened on Sunday, October 4th nationwide, took place under good conditions. During this first day, the average number of partridges harvested was 1.91 per hunter, with variations according to regions and hunting territories. The Marrakech-Safi region recorded the highest level, with 2.41 partridges per hunter, while the Guelmim-Oued Noun region recorded 0.94 partridges per hunter. The average level recorded nationally is higher than that observed during the first day of the previous season, which was 1.39 per hunter. The ANEF believes that these results constitute a positive indicator, particularly in light of the climatic conditions and water stress that have marked the Kingdom's ecosystems and natural resources in recent years. These results testify in particular to the efforts made to ensure sustainable management of the hunting heritage and strengthen its resilience. To support the smooth running of the season, the ANEF has deployed a reinforced surveillance and control system based on specialised units, as well as field tours and patrols conducted by the agency's engineers and technicians. These operations are carried out in coordination with volunteer guards from the Royal Moroccan Hunting Federation, hunting associations and companies, as well as security services. The ANEF notes that during this first day, approximately 9 offence reports were drawn up in different regions of the Kingdom, notably for night hunting and the use of prohibited means; hunting without a permit or in reserves; hunting without authorisation from the holder of the hunting right, as well as hunting in prohibited areas. These offences were notably recorded in the regions of Souss-Massa, Marrakech-Safi, Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima, and Rabat-Sale-Kenitra. Furthermore, two accidental incidents related to hunting were recorded during this first day. In the first case, a hunter suffered minor injuries while handling his weapon. In the second, a hunter was slightly injured by shrapnel following a shot fired by one of his companions. The agency specifies that none of these incidents resulted in serious injury. During this first day, the ANEF notes the absence of serious accidents of the nature of those recorded during some previous seasons. However, it recalls that safety must remain an absolute priority throughout the season. The agency thus calls on all hunters to exercise the greatest caution and to strictly respect safety rules, particularly when carrying, transporting, and handling weapons, as well as when hunting in the field. The ANEF will continue its mobilisation in the field throughout the season, by strengthening control, awareness, and support actions, in close coordination with its partners.
