Agricultural potential The 6th edition of the National Apple Fair (Sapom) will take place from 8 to 11 October in Midelt, with the participation of about 150 exhibitors among the key players in the apple sector. Placed under the High Patronage of HM King Mohammed VI, this edition is organised under the supervision of the Ministry of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development and Water and Forests and in coordination with the Midelt prefecture under the theme "apple sector: opportunities for integrated territorial development of mountainous areas". Organised by the Sapom association in partnership with local, regional, and national actors, this event is part of the efforts aimed at valorising the agricultural potential of the region and strengthening the place of the apple sector as a fundamental pillar of the agricultural economy of the Drâa-Tafilalet region. According to a press release from the organisers, this event constitutes a space for the exchange of experiences and know-how, the exploration of investment opportunities, and the strengthening of partnerships between farmers, cooperatives, professionals, as well as public and private establishments. Spread over an area of 5,500 m2, the Fair includes, in addition to the agricultural consultation space, several hubs, namely "Institutional Hub", "Apple and Derivatives Exhibition Hub", "Local Product Hub", "Agro-supply Hub", and "Agricultural Machinery Hub". This edition also offers a space to the guest of honour, namely the regions of Sidi Ayad, Rich, and Mzizel in order to make known the natural assets of these production areas, their human skills, and their promising agricultural projects, while highlighting the development and investment opportunities offered by these areas. Similarly, a space dedicated to children offers various educational workshops and fun activities, aimed at raising awareness among this segment of society about the importance of agriculture and the environment, in an atmosphere combining learning and entertainment. The organisation of the National Apple Fair is part of, according to the same source, the dynamic aimed at valorising local agricultural products, strengthening the competitiveness of production sectors, and continuing efforts in favour of sustainable rural development, particularly in mountainous areas.
