The HEM Higher School of Management, a member of LCI Education, and the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) announced on Monday the official launch of the University of New Knowledge, a major project dedicated to the democratisation and dissemination of emerging knowledge in a global context marked by technological, ecological, social, and generational changes.
The inaugural seminar of this initiative will be held on Monday, May 19, at the HEM Rabat campus, in the presence of prominent figures, the organisers announced in a press release.
Designed by HEM and ICESCO, in partnership with the French Institute of Morocco and the Heinrich Böll Foundation, the seminars of this University of New Knowledge are organised with four Moroccan public universities: Mohammed V of Rabat, Hassan II of Casablanca, Hassan I of Settat, and Ibn Tofaïl of Kénitra, the press release notes, adding that thanks to this public-private partnership, the University of New Knowledge will take the form of a travelling academy.
Thus, from May 20 to June 26, it will offer open and free seminars aimed at a wide and curious public composed of students, executives, teachers, retirees, or citizens wishing to better understand the developments of the contemporary world, the same source adds, specifying that the themes addressed will aim to make complex knowledge accessible in crucial areas such as digital technology, ecology, artificial intelligence, societal changes, and transformations in work.
The guest speakers in this framework are Zakaria Abou Eddahab, Nadia Alaoui Hachimi, Marc-Antoine Dilhac, Hady Ba, Hamid Bouchikhi, Dominique Bourg, Frédéric Encel, Manal El Abboubi, Salima El Mandjra, Thierry Fabre, Amina Kchirid, Driss Khrouz, Youssfi Mohamed, Abdelhadi Ibnyahya, Hassan Radoine, and Anouar Sabri, the same source notes.
In order to promote access for the greatest number of people, the seminars will be organised largely in several higher education institutions across the country, namely Hassan II University – Casablanca (at the Mohammed Sekkat University Library), Mohammed V University – Rabat (at the Faculty of Legal and Economic Sciences – Agdal), Ibn Tofaïl University – Kénitra (at the National School of Commerce and Management of Kénitra), as well as Hassan I University – Settat (at the National School of Commerce and Management).
The closing ceremony will be held at the ICESCO headquarters in Rabat. At the end of this cycle, certificates of participation will be awarded to the most diligent participants.
This initiative reflects the shared desire of HEM and ICESCO to act responsibly and committedly towards society, the press release stresses, adding that it is part of the Social Responsibility of Universities (SRU) vision supported by LCI Education, affirming the active role of educational institutions in the sustainable transformation of societies.
Through its Centre for Foresight and Artificial Intelligence, ICESCO also confirms its commitment to a culture of anticipation, by supporting member states in training for the skills of tomorrow and in the development of visionary public policies.
