Princess Lalla Meryem presides in Rabat over the ceremony celebrating the 30th anniversary of the creation of the National Observatory for Children's Rights

Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Meryem, President of the National Observatory for Children's Rights (ONDE), presided this Sunday in Rabat over the ceremony celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Observatory's creation..

The celebration of this anniversary reflects the great interest that His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist Him, attaches to the issue of childhood, and His Majesty's constant desire to give a strong impetus to actions aimed at protecting this segment of society and improving its situation.

At the beginning of this ceremony, Her Royal Highness watched a contemporary dance performance entitled "The Struggle of the National Observatory for Children's Rights for Children's Rights", performed by young artists who expressed with enthusiasm and overflowing emotions the efforts made by the Kingdom for three decades for the benefit of childhood.

Following this, Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Meryem watched audiovisual capsules on the firm commitment of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, since His accession to the throne of His glorious ancestors, for the well-being of the child and their full social and cultural development, and the importance that the National Observatory for Children's Rights attaches to protecting and promoting children's rights, and preserving their mental health, and on the digitalisation of the Observatory, especially the essential role that the Observatory plays in the field of innovation in the service of protecting childhood.

Within the framework of the comprehensive project for the digitalisation of the child's health record launched by Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Meryem in February 2025, the Observatory announced during this celebration the launch of the first version of the "Child's Health Record" application, an application designed to enable parents to access all essential information to monitor their children's growth in the field of prevention, nutrition, and psychomotor development with practical advice.

This version with educational content will soon be followed, in partnership with the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, by a second version containing new features (vaccination record, and automatic reminders for vaccinations and examinations), in addition to a module for tracking the child's growth.

On this occasion, Her Royal Highness presided over the signing ceremony of three strategic agreements aimed at strengthening institutional coordination, children's participation, and the effective implementation of their rights. These partnership agreements embody the Observatory's constant commitment to mobilising energies to develop concrete and sustainable actions that keep pace with contemporary challenges.

The first agreement, signed with the Ministry of Solidarity, Social Inclusion and the Family, relates to supporting the action plan of the National Observatory for Children's Rights during the 2025/2027 period, with a focus on training actors in the field, building capacities, and valuing the effective participation of child parliamentarians. This agreement was signed by Ms. Naima Ben Yahia, Minister of Solidarity, Social Inclusion and the Family, and Ms. Ghizlane Benjelloun, Vice-President of the National Observatory for Children's Rights.

The second agreement, signed with the Ministry of the Interior and the National Coordination of the National Initiative for Human Development, relates to deploying the programmes of the national mechanism for psychological support for children's trauma in rural areas and integrating mental health into policies related to the first thousand days of life. The agreement was signed by Mr. Mohamed Dardouri, Wali, National Coordinator of the National Initiative for Human Development, and Ms. Ghizlane Benjelloun.

As for the third agreement, concluded with the Higher Institute of the Judiciary, it concerns integrating mental health into training courses for judges, as well as jointly preparing studies, research, and publications on children's rights. The agreement was signed by Ms. Ghizlane Benjelloun and Mr. Abdelhanine Touzani, Director General of the Higher Institute of the Judiciary.

After that, Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Meryem oversaw the presentation of three honorary awards to personalities who left their mark on the work of the National Observatory for Children's Rights, namely Ms. Nadia Fettah, Minister of Economy and Finance, in appreciation of her continuous support for the National Observatory for Children's Rights, and Moulay Ismail Alaoui, former Minister of National Education, who was unable to attend for health reasons, in recognition of the services he provided to the noble cause of childhood, and Ms. Amina Ouarid, in recognition of 35 years of commitment and dedication to the service of childhood.

Following this, Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Meryem took a commemorative photo with the children present.

This ceremony, organised within the framework of the seventeenth session of the National Congress on Children's Rights, was marked by the presence of a number of official figures and child parliamentarians coming from all parts of the Kingdom and former members of the Child Parliament, in addition to institutional, associative, and international partners involved in serving the cause of childhood.
