Tizguite or Tizghit is a rural locality in Morocco located in the Ifrane province, known as the Ifrane Valley. Its floral and faunal diversity makes the site a privileged place for ecotourists. It is classified as a Natural Park, renowned for its famous butterflies considered as bio-indicators (Zerynthia-rumina-africana), in other words, a thermometer allowing for the assessment of the state of the environment.
The construction of a dam on the Oued Tizguite in the middle of the Middle Atlas plateau has enhanced the region by retaining rainwater and snowmelt, which has regularised the devastating floods of the Oued Tizguite. However, the management of this wetland requires further efforts from the government because the NGOs operating for the preservation of the nature of the Middle Atlas cannot on their own overcome certain problems linked to man and the way he conceives his environment in relation to nature. These organisations are therefore confronted with a problem falling under environmental philosophy.
