The new maritime routes connect Saudi ports to several strategic points worldwide, including the port of Tanger Med in Morocco, a key hub for the Kingdom, as well as the port of Port Said in Egypt, Algeciras in Spain, Aqaba in Jordan, Jebel Ali in the United Arab Emirates, Mundra and Pipavav in India, and Salalah in Oman.
These connections will increase export capacity with a total of 19,869 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs).
These services will not only enhance the competitiveness of Saudi ports but also facilitate international trade and open up new opportunities for commercial exchanges.
It should be noted that the port of Jeddah has been chosen as the centre for the "Gemini" alliance between Hapag-Lloyd and Maersk, which further strengthens the position of Saudi ports as a global logistics hub, while improving the efficiency of cargo management and thus stimulating economic growth.
