Grand Stade de Tanger: The Wali inspects the works
Has the final deadline for the completion of the Grand Stade de Tanger works expired? That is the question of the day in sporting circles.

In truth, there is an agreement between the company in charge of the development and expansion of the complex and SONARGES concerning the date of completion of the redevelopment task.

This week, Mr. Younes Tazi, Wali of the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region, carried out a field visit to the Grand Stade de Tanger, where he chaired a meeting with the companies in charge of executing the works, as part of the monitoring of major development projects in the city.

During the meeting, he expressed his dissatisfaction with the prolonged delay in the execution of certain works related to the rehabilitation of the stadium, stressing the need to strictly respect the schedule set for the completion of the works.

He stressed that the Grand Stade de Tanger is one of the main sports facilities that will host matches for the 2030 FIFA World Cup, which will be organized in partnership between Morocco, Spain and Portugal, and is expected to host one of the semi-finals.

He also insisted on the importance of preparing the stadium to host the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations matches.

The Wali also mentioned the need to quickly remedy the delays and respect the highest required quality standards, warning that the competent authorities will take the necessary legal measures against any party that has failed to meet its obligations.

He explained that the project benefited from royal patronage, which imposes on all concerned actors the need to work seriously to achieve the completion of all works on time and according to the required specifications.

Finally, he concluded the meeting by calling for the strengthening of coordination between the parties concerned, noting that the Grand Stade de Tanger, which is one of the most important sports facilities in Morocco, will contribute to the economic and tourist development of the region, in addition to its central role in supporting the national sports infrastructure.
