Arrest of a corrupt doctor and his accomplice in Tangier

A resident doctor at the Mohammed VI University Hospital Centre in Tangier, suspected of stealing medicines from the establishment's warehouse and selling them illegally to patients, has been arrested.

His accomplice has also been neutralised. The case broke following a complaint filed by the family of a patient, to whom the doctor had asked to buy medicines from his accomplice, even though he was supposed to provide them to the patient for free. Once the public prosecutor's office at the city's Court of Appeal received the complaint, instructions were given for investigations to be carried out immediately.

These concluded that the medicines sold by the accomplice to the patient's family came from the Mohammed VI University Hospital Centre warehouse. After the completion of the police custody period, the doctor in question and his accomplice were brought before the King's Prosecutor at the Court of First Instance in Tangier, who remanded them in custody while prosecuting them for breach of trust, fraud, and complicity.
