The French Institute is organising the nineteenth edition of the Tangier Book and Arts Fair from 6 to 10 May 2015. The event will take place at the Palace of Italian Institutions under the theme "The role of women". Following a Fair focused on Africa, which highlighted how issues of education, health, economic development, and democracy are linked to the status and role of women, this edition of the Tangier Book and Arts Fair will be entirely dedicated to them.

Writers, philosophers, artists, and thinkers—the majority being women—will gather in a friendly atmosphere in Tangier for five days of readings, rich and lively debates, concerts, and exhibitions. Women from Africa, Europe, and elsewhere will share their respective experiences during days of exchange and debate, through sessions in Arabic, English, Spanish, and Italian. In parallel, as part of the promotion of books and reading, the Fair will be preceded and accompanied by educational work carried out in the establishments of the Regional Academy of Education and Training (AREF). In this sense, a caravan will oversee the implementation of the Regional Reading Pleasure Competition (in French and Arabic) among primary, middle, and high school students of both genders from public and private institutions in the North. It will conclude with the awarding of prizes to the most deserving participants.

At the same time, music, visual arts, and dance will be in the spotlight during this Fair, where reflection and the pleasures of meeting and aesthetic experience will be combined. The event will also be punctuated by a tribute to Nawal Moutawakil, the first Arab and African woman to have won an Olympic gold medal.
