The municipal council of Tangier held an extraordinary session last Monday at the City Hall in the presence of 47 elected officials. The session was mainly focused on an important point, namely the approval of the city mayor's decision to oppose the transfer of Amendis to Actis. 32 out of 47 elected officials approved the mayor's decision during this session, which started at 3:30 p.m. and whose proceedings continued until around 11 p.m. Fouad Omary had opened the debates on the concerns of the elected officials who raised the problems of cleanliness, particularly at the level of the cemeteries which are in a lamentable state. The mayor assured that a commission in charge of cemetery control has been in office for more than three months. However, the item on the agenda related to the approval of the opposition to the transfer of Amendis to Actis. Several elected officials were in favour of Amendis' departure, believing that this company has brought nothing to the city, thus expressing the same concern as the Tangier population, which demands the termination of the delegated management contract.

Others expressed their concerns regarding the company Actis. It was nearly 11 p.m. when, following the vote, the verdict was delivered: the transfer of Amendis to Actis was rejected.

The elected officials also demanded the departure of Amendis, while the city's urban commune should resume the management of the city's water, electricity, and sanitation services as was the case in the past.
