The Urban Agency of Tangier (AUT) has succeeded in meeting the challenge of continuing to improve its performance. The Agency has just been distinguished for the second time by ISO 9001 version 2008. "It is a challenge that we have been keen to meet since passing the first test for obtaining this certification. We have managed to succeed in meeting this challenge and have provided more effort to maintain this distinction of quality," affirms Abdellatif Brini, head of the Urban Agency in Tangier. It should be noted that the AUT has succeeded in maintaining this quality certification, following an audit carried out on 26 December 2013 by the Veritas expertise Bureau. This shows the scale of the efforts undertaken by the AUT with a view to modernising the management of its services, strengthening its relations with its partners and facilitating procedures for users. The Agency has been able to "maintain its certification, as a crowning achievement of the efforts deployed by this institution with the aim of permanently improving the quality of services rendered for the benefit of all its partners and citizens in general," according to a press release issued by the AUT. The Agency is planning a list of projects to better accompany the major projects currently being carried out or those initiated within the framework of the ambitious royal Tangier-Metropolis programme. Among the most important of these projects is the unified development plan for the city, which is expected to be ready during the current year. "This unified development plan will allow for a clear and global vision of the entire urban space of the city," specifies Mr. Brini. A second document of great importance is being produced to accompany this urban dynamism. It has been put in place to cover the Mediterranean coastline from Tangier to Ksar Sghir. It is a matter of framing a territory in full social and spatial mutation and providing a legal tool for urban management. It is also worth mentioning the new master plan for the development of the Tangier Wilaya which aims to carry out a diagnosis and provide a real database and information in the process of "establishing a strategy for global and integrated development of this territory," underlines Mr. Brini.
