New distinction for APM Terminals Tangier. The Tanger Med operator has just been certified by Bureau Veritas for the management of its supply chain security system. ISO 28000 is therefore added to the list of certifications awarded to APM since it began operations. Thus, APM Terminals Tangier becomes the first terminal in the group to obtain ISO 28000 certification, one year after receiving the triple certification of its integrated management system for quality, safety, and the environment.

"We have constantly raised our management processes to the highest standards of our industry," emphasises Hartmut Goeritz, Managing Director of APM Terminals Tangier, in this regard. Mr. Goeritz also stated that the ISO 28000 certification consolidates their efforts by guaranteeing the continuous improvement of APM's supply chain security management system.

"The compliance of APM Terminals Tangier's security management system with the ISO 28000 standard allows it to reduce the risks to which people and goods are exposed at all links in the supply chain, such as intrusions, sabotage, and others, thus contributing to the promotion of global trade and the effective implementation of the International Ship and Port Facility Security Code," we learn from APM Terminals Tangier officials.

The new certification crowns the actions undertaken by the port operator in this regard. It centralises all actions to guarantee a healthy and secure working environment for clients, employees, and visitors. This approach was crowned by the development of a framework aimed at the continuous improvement of the security management system. The result of a partnership between A.P. Moller-Maersk and Akwa Group, APM Terminals Tangier has 800 linear metres of quay and 40 hectares of land.

The operator has, among other things, equipment and operational resources that comply with the best standards, thereby ensuring rapid processing of ship calls. As a reminder, APM operates in 62 ports and terminals and 165 hinterland facilities. The turnover recorded in 2012 is close to 5 billion dollars, achieving a traffic of 35.4 million TEUs (Twenty-foot Equivalent Units) serving around sixty shipping companies and major importers and exporters worldwide.
