Tangier-Tetouan: Seizure of food products unfit for consumption

The inspection services of the regional directorate of the National Office for Food Safety (ONSSA) in the Tangier-Tetouan region proceeded, during the second week of Ramadan, to seize quantities of food products unfit for consumption.

The inspection operations resulted in the withdrawal from the marketing circuit of 65 litres of peach nectar, 6 kg of dates, 7 kg of canned plant-based products, 324 kg of red meat unfit for consumption, 56 kg of white meat, and 94 kg of charcuterie.

These operations also led to the seizure of 262 kg of milk and dairy products, 1,670 kg of fish and fishery products, 1,709 eggs, and 3,845 kg of various food products of animal origin, specifies a press release from the regional directorate of ONSSA.

The reinforced food inspection actions, aimed at guaranteeing better consumer protection, covered, during the same period, the import inspection of 1,124 tonnes of food products.

The permanent inspection brigades carried out 115 outings at the regional market level, during which they were able to conduct 315 visits to various points of sale and inspect collective catering establishments as well as processing units.

The 115 inspection acts carried out on this occasion resulted in the collection of samples for analysis and awareness-raising actions regarding food storage, labelling, and hygiene conditions.
