The second Spanish-Moroccan multisectoral meeting, organised by the Spanish Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Tangier, was held in Tangier. Sixteen business leaders from 16 Spanish companies and nearly twenty business leaders from nearly 70 Moroccan companies from all regions of the Kingdom, mainly from the North, were present. The main objective: to bring together Spanish and Moroccan companies from different sectors, with a view to allowing the exchange of expertise, promoting cooperation, and establishing partnerships. The proceedings of this second meeting were opened by the presentation of the director of the CECIT (Spanish Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Tangier), Mrs Amal Boussouf, who recalled the efforts made by the Camara for the development of economic relations between the two neighbouring Mediterranean countries. Despite the global crisis, economic exchanges between the two Kingdoms have not slowed down.

In turn, Mrs Maria Pena Mateos, advisor at the Economic and Commercial Office of the Spanish Embassy in Rabat, highlighted Morocco's commitment to a series of reforms that have led to a new Constitution, crowned by early democratic elections. She then spoke about the clearly progressing economic relations between the two Mediterranean coastal countries, as the environment is very favourable to foreign investors who wish to establish themselves there and succeed in competitiveness. She noted that Spain was Morocco's second partner after France and that Spanish investments in the Moroccan economy had increased. She added that Spain occupied a good position in Morocco's economic exchanges with foreign countries. She reviewed the advanced status that Morocco enjoys in its relations with the European Union, its proximity to Europe, and its free trade agreements, which are important assets to encourage foreign investors to invest in Morocco. Then, the representative of the Port Authority of the Bay of Algeciras, Nicolas Martinez, recalled that the two ports of Tangier Med and Algeciras were complementary, classified in the category of hubs, that is to say, platforms for receiving and distributing containers on an international scale. Finally, the representative of the Centre for Technological and Industrial Development (CDT), Marc Marchador, specified that this Centre encouraged technological cooperation projects between small and medium-sized enterprises and developed technological innovations. "We have a rich programme," he adds, "our mission consists of encouraging the promotion of mutual support and the transfer of technology and technological development." This second meeting ended with inter-company contacts that took place between the 16 Spanish companies and the 70 Moroccan companies, in order to open up a fruitful partnership.

The Spanish Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Tangier organised, in collaboration with the Economic and Commercial Office of the Spanish Embassy in Rabat and Casablanca, a very large number of meetings between Moroccan and Spanish operators, particularly in real estate development, renewable energy production, as well as in biomass, liquid sanitation, and water treatment. This aims to allow Spanish operators to prospect for partnership and business opportunities with their Moroccan counterparts.
