Educating and raising awareness among children about environmental protection is becoming a priority. To this end, Coca-Cola Morocco and its bottler Atlas Bottling Company "ABC" organised, in collaboration with several local associations, on Sunday 27 May, an awareness day on forest protection for nearly 200 students at the Perdicaris forest park, better known as Rmilate in Tangier. This event - which was part of the celebration of World Environment Day - was held under the theme "For a clean planet, a common social involvement". According to the organisers, Coca-Cola Morocco and Atlas Bottling Company confirm through the holding of this day their role as actors in sustainable development and environmental protection. They thus continue their mobilisation to "draw public attention to the respect and protection of our natural heritage and the urban environment," affirms Omar Bennis, head of public relations and communication at Coca-Cola Morocco. The activities of this day began with the cleaning of the Perdicaris forest. "This cleaning campaign, which required the installation of new bins in the forest, is launched to raise greater awareness towards the protection of the environment and to sensitise the population of Tangier to the importance of preserving the forest heritage," explain the organisers. The students benefiting from this campaign were able, during this day, to discover the history and importance of the Perdicaris forest, considered one of the most famous sites of biological and ecological interest (SIBE) in Morocco. Spanning an area of more than 76 hectares, this natural and historical site was the property of an American diplomat of Greek origin and retired, who chose in 1872 to settle in Tangier. This diplomat planted several species of exotic plants that he brought from abroad. The Perdicaris urban forest park currently has a large number of rare trees and plants.

It should be noted that this event was closed in a festive atmosphere with the awarding of prizes to the best child citizens.
