Intervention groups managed, on Sunday evening, to bring under control the fire that ravaged nearly 2 hectares of the Cap Spartel forest, located in the "Jbel Elkébir" zone, west of the city of Tangier.
The intervention of the firefighting teams, composed of 600 members of the civil protection, auxiliary forces, Royal Armed Forces, and water and forestry agents, made it possible to quickly contain the disaster, despite the difficulty of access and the wind that the region was experiencing, indicated a source from the civil protection.
The ground intervention teams were supported by two "Turbo Trush" planes belonging to the Royal Gendarmerie, which made it possible to surround the flames before they spread to the rest of the forest, which is essentially composed of pine trees, added the same source.
