Amendis Tangier continues to achieve good performance. This is what the Executive Director of Veolia Environnement Maroc, Abdenbi Attou, stated during a meeting with the press organised on Thursday, 3 May, for the presentation of the 2011 results of the delegated water and electricity distribution company and its investment programme for the year 2012. According to Amendis Tangier officials, this investment programme, which concerns the entire delegated management perimeter, is part of the major guidelines of the master plan updates, implementing the criteria defined in the contract in order to improve service performance. "The total amount of investment projects proposed for the year 2012 amounts to 347.4 million DH," stresses Mr. Attou. Furthermore, this 2012 investment budget project is structured around the main objectives and axes, notably the securing of supply for both drinking water and electricity. It will allow for the completion of the Tangier Bay depollution programme, through the reconstruction of the Helvétie pumping station for a cost of 15.8 million DH. This project involves the continuation of the coastline depollution programme - by intercepting illegal discharges - and that of equipping non-sanitised areas with drinking water and sanitation, within the framework of the National Initiative for Human Development (INDH). It will allow for the continuation of the extension and social connection programme, which requires an investment of 86.1 million DH. The project also focuses on the strengthening and renewal of infrastructure and distribution networks. It also includes the improvement of the yields of electricity and drinking water distribution networks. This project will allow, in addition to the development of the network of commercial agencies, the resolution of "black spots" during rainy periods and the fight against flooding. Among the main investment projects scheduled in 2012 are the reconstruction of the Helvétie pumping station, the completion of the rehabilitation work on the Place Cadi reservoir, the construction of the Aouama Gharbia and Khair 1 bis reservoirs, the strengthening of the supply networks from Dar Tounsi as well as the construction and equipment of the source substations of Tangier Harrarine and Asilah. The programme for this meeting included a visit to the two new reservoirs, Khair 1 bis and Ibn Batouta. With a total cost of 47.5 million DH, the latter, which is supplied from a connection to the ONEP pipeline, has a capacity of 20,000 m3. With a capacity of 5,000 m3, the Khair 1 bis reservoir is supplied from the Béni Makada reservoir via a new fixed-speed pumping station which has a maximum flow rate of 360 litres per second.
