The Moroccan furniture distribution group Kitea has chosen the city of the strait to open its fifth branch with a new concept. With a total investment of 115 million DH, this modern and structured space for the distribution of the Moroccan brand's products "will be the fifth Kitea giant to open, during the first week of April, after Marrakech, Casablanca, Oujda and Kinshasa in the Democratic Republic of Congo", explains Abderrahmane El Messoussi Garti, the group's development director, during the "Site open to the media" day organised on 8 March at the premises of Kitea giant in Tanger, which are nearing completion.
Located at the exit of the city, this large space for the distribution of furniture, accessories and equipment covers a total area of 17,038 m2, including 12,150 m2 of built land. "Some 500 people worked hard for 14 months to be able to build the giant store in Tanger within the scheduled deadlines. The realisation of this major project required 600 tonnes of metal reinforcement, 10,000 m3 of concrete and 20,000 metres of cables", specifies Mr. El Messoussi Garti.
The establishment in Tanger of this new "one-stop-shop" store concept offers a giant choice of Kitea products. Its opening to the public is part of the new expansion policy led by the Moroccan furniture distribution group to better meet consumer needs. Considered a major job generator, the group will allow, through its new Tanger branch, 95 people to work and the creation of 250 indirect jobs. And according to those in charge of this project, the opening of Kitea giant in Tanger will be followed by that of two other large stores in Fès and Rabat on 1 May and 1 June 2012 respectively. Already present in Africa through its resellers in more than seven African countries, the furniture brand favours opening as a franchise before moving on to stores owned by the brand. The Moroccan group has thus just opened a large 4,500 m2 furniture distribution space in Kinshasa on 1 March. Two other giant stores will also see the light of day in Africa with the Kitea brand as a franchise.
Created in 1992, this Moroccan group - which brings together the Kitea giant, classic and Kshop brands - currently has more than fifty points of sale located in 17 Moroccan cities.
