This acquisition by the mining division of the holding company Africorp Consortium follows the acquisition of two copper mines: the first in Merija in the province of Bouarfa (Talsint). It has been operational since 2019. The second, Tarwa, is located 12 km from Merija and has been operational since 2022.
The Naour project, for which the license was acquired for 30 MDH, will mobilize an investment of more than 230 MDH. Africorp Mining hopes to extract 1.5 million tonnes of resources with an average concentration of 1.5% copper. A turnover of 250 MDH is expected from 2027.
On this occasion, Mohamed Lazaar, President of Africorp Mining, stated: âThis project marks a new stage in the development of the group's mining activity. It crowns our first successful experience in the Bouarfa region and opens concrete perspectives for other projects currently in the prospecting phaseâ.
The Vice President of Africorp Consortium, Hassan Benjorfi, indicated for his part: âSupporting our business divisions in their development is at the heart of Africorp Consortium's mission. The success of Merija through the âNaourâ project perfectly illustrates our ambition to structure solid subsidiaries capable of carrying strategic projects with high territorial impact. Africorp Mining embodies this dynamic, by actively contributing to the valorization of national resources while meeting the requirements of sustainability and social responsibility.â
