Numerous actions to fight against insalubrious housing have been carried out in Mohammedia. Nevertheless, there are still 17,468 households to be rehoused in Mohammedia, Benyakhlef, Echellalat, Sidi Moussa Ben Ali, and Sidi Moussa Al Majdoub. The major obstacle hindering rehousing is undoubtedly the lack of land, according to a prefectural official: "The rehousing of the 17,468 households concerned must be done within the framework of a global and integrated vision that includes the social aspects of the populations in question. Significant work has been done to allow a large number of households to benefit from plots for their rehousing. Criteria have been set by the Regional Rehousing Committee at the level of the Casablanca region, notably the effective residence of the beneficiary in the shanty town". To benefit from rehousing operations, shanty town dwellers must also provide documents proving that they do not own any other real estate. Those responsible for rehousing operations also proceed to cross-check the lists established by the authority and the design offices depending on the companies carrying out the rehousing project. Until now, households meeting the criteria have benefited from rehousing plots. In this context, the Al Fath 1 and 2 operations depending on the company Idmaj Sakan concerned the shanty town dwellers of Benyakhlef and Sidi Moussa Al Majdoub. Out of 7,803 households living in these shanty towns, 5,043 meet the set criteria. The 2,760 households that were not taken care of have filed requests that will be processed by the prefectural committee, we learn from a source within the Mohammedia prefecture. Furthermore, the "Maroua-Assafaa" and "Chellal" operations in the rural commune of Echellalat concerned 4,454 households. The rehousing operation that will be carried out by the Al Omrane group will begin shortly, following the same process as that of Al Fath 1 and 2 while giving priority to households meeting the required criteria. The remaining households will be studied in subsequent operations. "To successfully carry out the various rehousing operations," stresses an official who preferred to remain anonymous, "it is imperative that the 112 hectares acquired by Al Omrane serve to rehouse the shanty town dwellers of Mohammedia, Chellalat, and Benyakhlef as a priority". This is because at the level of Mohammedia there is no more land reserve, and the 120 hectares in question are located on the territory of Benyakhlef which depends on the prefecture of Mohammedia.

2,610 shacks destroyed: At the level of the rural communes of Benyakhlef and Sidi Moussa Al Majdoub, 2,610 shacks were destroyed. The operation took place in two phases. The households concerned benefited from serviced 80 m² bi-family plots. They will also benefit from site monitoring with standard plans and concrete plans provided by the operator. In return, each beneficiary will pay a sum of 20,000 DH and will ensure the construction of their new housing (G+3). "After several years of waiting, we finally see our dream come true," explains one of the beneficiaries, a father of 4 children. "We have benefited from a plot of land that allows us today to access decent housing that protects us from climatic hazards and social exclusion".
