More than 17,000 households are waiting for rehousing
Numerous actions to fight against insalubrious housing have been carried out in Mohammedia. Nevertheless, there are still 17,468 households to be rehoused in Mohammedia, Benyakhlef, Echellalat, Sidi Moussa Ben Ali, and Sidi Moussa Al Majdoub. The major obstacle hindering rehousing is undoubtedly the lack of land, according to a prefectural official: "The rehousing of the 17,468 households concerned must be done within the framework of a global and integrated vision that includes the social aspects of the populations in question. Significant work has been done to allow a large number of households to benefit from plots for their rehousing. Criteria have been set by the Regional Rehousing Committee at the level of the Casablanca region, notably the effective residence of the beneficiary in the shanty town".
