The inhabitants of Mohammedia are still waiting for a surge from the Commune for the programming of the redevelopment work on the important Al Moukawama Boulevard, whose name is symbolic in more ways than one. Considered one of the most important roads in the city, Al Moukawama Boulevard stretches over 6 km. It allows for a quick and direct connection with several points of the seaside city. It is also open to the motorway and also to the coastal road, thus making it possible to avoid passing through the centre of the lower city. Despite the heavy traffic that characterises it, this boulevard has lost so much of its particularities that it now constitutes a contradiction with its name. Although classified among the most illustrious avenues in the city of Mohammedia, this boulevard has somewhat lost its originality and is the subject of continuous degradation. The artery also includes black spots that harm the urban landscape. A small detour along this boulevard is enough to see the reality of things. Indeed, Al Moukawama Boulevard has been somewhat neglected when it should have been among the priorities in the sustainable management of the city. Although some work has been carried out (traffic lights and roundabouts on part of the boulevard), many problems remain, linked in particular to traffic and road safety. The "Micalla" section, forming an intersection between the boulevard in question and Hassan II Boulevard, constitutes a black and dangerous spot where sometimes fatal accidents occur. In this sense, on this part characterised by heavy traffic, where several schools and residences have taken up residence, the absence of traffic lights, roundabouts and speed limit strips is blatant. On another level, the aesthetic and environmental side poses serious problems with the presence, on both sides of part of the boulevard, of blocks of substandard housing conveying a degrading image of the city. The wastewater coming from these shanty towns accentuates the environmental and health problems. The green spaces, poorly designed, particularly on the side of the axial refuge, did not last long in the face of the outrages of time. In addition to the deplorable fate suffered by this boulevard, it also negatively impacts other axes. It is regrettable to note that the maintenance of this artery has not been kept up in order to bring these roads back to life," indicates this local resident. Defective urban planning: The residents along Al Moukawama Boulevard are unanimous about the damage caused by the degradation of the premises. They are calling on the relevant services to resolve the thorny problem linked to the weakness of public lighting, which contributes to insecurity. Similarly, laying tiles along the boulevard would solve many problems and give it more appeal. It is also necessary to think about finding a solution to the piles of waste that generate serious environmental problems, by installing bins all along the artery. The most important thing, however, lies in strengthening the basic infrastructure to improve traffic flow, preserve the aesthetics of the boulevards and roads connecting this axis to the rest of the city.
