The oldest fountain in Mohammedia has been refurbished. The objective of this operation is to create a synergy between tourism promotion and the safeguarding of the city's heritage. The renovation, covered by the municipality, concerned the marble cladding, a space for the hydraulic system, a device ensuring parabolic effects and cascades of the fountain as well as lighting by submerged spotlights. These works required a budget of one million dirhams. Despite this action, it must be admitted that Mohammedia suffers from a deficit in this area. The city has only three fountains. "We take little care of the city's heritage, yet the creation of new fountains would offer inhabitants and visitors attractive walking spaces," laments a resident of Mohammedia.
