In this context, the president of the urban commune of Mohammedia, Mohamed Mfadel, presented the cycle path project of 2,700 linear metres with a width of 2.50 metres at the level of Sidi Mohammed Ben Abdellah Boulevard. With a cost of 1.17 MDH, this project, 80% completed, notably includes the paving of sidewalks. It will thus allow residents to walk there and athletes to train. The famous controversial indoor sports hall project will also be settled, according to Mr Mfadel: "the commune has mobilised 8 MDH for the completion of the major works and secondary lots, the rest will be carried out according to the programmed credits". It should be noted that Mohammedia does not have an indoor sports hall. Once this project is completed, local teams will no longer have to travel to Casablanca to train and play championship matches. The future indoor sports hall will cover an area of 2,700 m² with a capacity of 2,500 seats.

Still within the framework of the development of sports infrastructure, the commune has programmed the development works of the El Alia stadium. To this end, it has launched the development of the esplanade including paving, lighting, the installation of an aesthetic field, a basketball court, a cycle path as well as a fence. All these works will be carried out for a total cost of 10 MDH. At the level of the "Mçalla", paving and concreting works as well as the development of sports fields are planned.

Places of worship are not left out, given that the commune has programmed the completion of the "Essâada" mosque, built in the El Alia district for a total amount of 15 MDH. An envelope of 11 MDH has also been devoted to major works and secondary lots. This place of worship will be equipped with the necessary equipment and spaces to accommodate 2,000 men and 500 women.

According to the officials of the commune of Mohammedia, particular interest has been given to the popular district of El Alia. Thus, numerous works of road surfacing, paving of streets and squares have been programmed. The budget for the first phase of this project is 2 MDH. The tender will be launched immediately for a total cost of 16 MDH, of which 14 MDH will be programmed from the budgetary surplus of the 2012 financial year. "We have also launched a project that will target 11 districts and where 11 local sports fields will be developed with a cost of 3 MDH," underlines a project manager at the commune of Mohammedia.

Developments are actively continuing throughout the city. Another project is programmed at the level of the El Alia reading room. A heightening is planned for the creation of a media library estimated at 500,000 DH. Furthermore, the commune has developed numerous roundabouts which have reduced traffic accidents. Other reflections are currently being carried out in order to improve the quality of life in the city of Mohammedia, particularly at the level of black spots, known for recording a high rate of traffic accidents, but also to remedy the absence of cultural and social infrastructure.

According to Hamid Basket, the director of the Abderrahim Bouabid Theatre, a building that has caused much ink to flow, the official inauguration of this cultural space is scheduled for 14 May 2013. A date that coincides with the National Theatre Day. "The partnership between the commune and the Ministry of Culture will give a new impetus to this cultural monument and will contribute to the artistic and cultural influence of the youth of Mohammedia and its region," he explained. Let us recall that in addition to this project, Mohammedia includes several projects initiated by municipal councils and not completed, such as the municipal swimming pool and the sports and leisure centre.
