A space dedicated to solidarity-based trade was inaugurated on Wednesday in Mohammedia with a view to promoting the products of the city's cooperatives and even beyond.

This space, located on Boulevard Hassan II, the first of its kind in Mohammedia, seeks to become an exhibition showcase for cooperatives, especially small structures specialising in local products.

The space is not limited to its local territorial base but aims to be a platform of national scale by bringing together, initially, no fewer than 120 cooperatives, the delegate of National Mutual Aid in Mohammedia, Homane El Hatbi, indicated to MAP, adding that this project is the culmination of a partnership between National Mutual Aid and the Office of Marketing and Export (OCE-Maroc Taswiq), which will be responsible for the management of this space and the control of the sanitary safety of the products exhibited.

More than just an exhibition fair, this space is intended to be a means of promoting a real dynamic in favour of self-employment and the fight against precariousness. It is also, as Mr. El Hatbi notes, the best way to enhance local products for the benefit of cooperatives and to establish a relationship of trust, without intermediaries, between the producer and the consumer.

The space, which will be open every day of the week, also aims to foster solidarity and create synergies between all the actors operating in the field of the social and solidarity economy, within the framework of the strategy of the Ministry of Solidarity, Women, Family, and Social Development.

And to further promote the social and solidarity economy, a partnership agreement was signed on this occasion between OCE-Maroc Taswiq and the Social Development Agency.
