Mohammedia experiences a particular liveliness during the summer season. Its beaches and those of its region transform into true seaside resort sites with the massive arrival of thousands of holidaymakers. This situation implies special measures and provisions so that the beach areas meet the requirements of holidaymakers in the fields of order, security, civil protection, infrastructure and equipment, hygiene, health, cleanliness, bathing water quality, food product control, traffic, and transport. "The summer season is the period of all risks: drowning, traffic accidents, sunstroke, insect stings, domestic accidents, etc.," indicates a municipal official. Aware of this situation and in anticipation of the massive arrival of holidaymakers who flock to the various beaches of Mohammedia and its region, the concerned services have mobilised to welcome vacationers in good conditions. The numerous actions undertaken each summer by the Mohammed VI Foundation for the Protection of the Environment will continue this year with the support of public authorities, municipalities, and certain corporate citizens for better management and attractiveness of the beaches. "The federation of synergies aims to encourage other partners to join the “Clean Beaches” programme massively," explains a city official. In terms of security, everything has been planned for better security management at all beaches, which will be provided and equipped with the necessary material and human resources. Actions have been carried out to preserve the quality of bathing water and to eliminate any risk of wastewater flowing towards the beaches, particularly those of Manesman and the centre. A rigorous cleaning and waste collection programme has already begun, as well as improvements and restorations of sanitary facilities, maintenance of public lighting, green spaces, car parks, etc. The organisation of beaches, public domain, the multiplication of food product controls, as well as sports, artistic, and children's activities, are also on the city's programme. Furthermore, other measures have concerned transport in order to improve service provision. These measures focused on the mechanical condition of vehicles as well as the organisational plan to ensure favourable travel conditions for holidaymakers. The supply of potable water to showers has not been left out. In addition, several resources have been made available to Civil Protection to cover surveillance and rescue operations. This involves strengthening the team of lifeguards, first-aiders, doctors, and nurses. Sophisticated equipment, including zodiacs, jeeps, and ambulances, has also been granted to rescuers, according to a municipal official. The installation of wastewater treatment plants and necessary sanitation devices will contribute to the preservation of the environmental quality of the beaches. Nevertheless, despite all the efforts made, one still notices the uncivil behaviour of some holidaymakers on the beaches. For example, the practice of certain violent sports constitutes a real danger for holidaymakers. "The most serious thing, however, is the phenomenon of renting horses, sometimes camels, at the beach level for rides in the holidaymaker zones," indicates a resident of Mohammedia. The other concern, which is no less significant, is the risks linked to water sports, particularly jet skis. The use of these marine motorbikes and other motorised nautical craft in bathing areas endangers the safety of holidaymakers.

The central square, long marginalised, is the subject of particular attention, notably the development of the corniche. A development that remains, however, dependent on an urgent solution concerning the illegal occupation of the public domain by cafés.

Furthermore, and since the permanent closure of the wastewater discharge tunnel at the central beach, the quality of bathing water is continuously improving. Currently, the residents of Mohammedia are awaiting the launch of the redevelopment works for the 2nd phase of the corniche in order to ensure more attractiveness and aesthetics for their city.
