This non-profit organisation sponsors about a hundred orphans from Mohammedia and takes care of families by integrating widows and children in precarious situations. "The enthusiasm of the association's members is stronger than financial constraints. It is constantly nourished by concrete and useful social and humanitarian actions and also by successful projects," indicates Ahmed Ouizid, Secretary General of the Ahdane Association of Mohammedia. Indeed, this structure makes helping orphans its major concern. To do this, it has implemented a dynamic of solidarity to reduce suffering and put itself at the service of those whom life has not privileged.
Located near the Kasbah, the Association's Centre has adequate infrastructure with a reception area for school-age orphans. This association, which operates thanks to the donations of its benefactor members, provides support classes in all subjects. The children also benefit from various cultural, educational, and sporting activities.
"We also organise excursions as well as visits to industrial establishments that allow children to develop their knowledge," affirms Ahmed Ouizid. The objective of this association is to ensure the financial stability of fatherless families in order to guarantee the schooling of children and offer them a decent life. Thus, it offers widows a quarterly financial aid of 900 DH. In the same framework, it encourages students who distinguish themselves in their studies. It also monitors the school and educational level of the children through communication with their school institutions. During national and religious holidays, "Ahdane" organises receptions to distribute clothing and food baskets to needy families. Quran recitation and citizenship classes are also on the programme of this organisation. In addition, the orphans benefit from rigorous medical monitoring.
The association, which has been campaigning since its creation in 2009 in the social and educational field, carries out occasional actions of support, education, and information. To do this, it can only count on its members. "The management of the association's premises, their equipment, the care of employees and beneficiaries as well as classes and other activities are entirely taken care of by the members of the board and some benefactors," explains Ahmed Ouizid. Nevertheless, this observation does not limit the ambitions of the said association. The latter is planning projects to be carried out with external partners in order to ensure stable resources for widows.
"We are delighted," stressed Ahmed Ouizid, "that the entire board is aware of its noble mission and with the precious help of some benefactors, they refuse indifference, marginalisation, and social exclusion. In the social field, the field of action is vast, the needs and sufferings are numerous. That is why we persist in our efforts, even if our means are modest, to maintain the sustainability of our mission". The "Ahdane" association is an example of a living civil society in full mutation. Innovative and solidary, several associations are developing and expanding the field of their skills without counting on subsidies from local councils.
Beyond taking care of orphans, the "Ahdane" Association targets widowed women for whom it has planned numerous actions and activities as well as financial aid and physical listening sessions for people suffering from nervous depression or stress situations. Furthermore, it offers women cooking, pastry, sewing, and hairdressing classes.
Widows can also benefit from literacy classes.
