The urban commune of Mohammedia organised a guided tour throughout the city on 12 April with a view to informing the inhabitants about the development of their city and presenting the projects that have been completed or are in the process of being completed. According to Mohammedia officials, priority has been given to social, sporting, environmental, cultural, and leisure projects.
Places of worship have not been left out. The commune has scheduled the completion of one mosque and the construction of a new one in the lower town. Measures have been taken to complete the work on the Dar Essaâda mosque, built in the El Alia district for an amount of 4.164 million dirhams. This place of worship will be equipped with the necessary facilities and spaces for a capacity of 2,000 men and 500 women. In the same framework, the Mohammedia commune presented the project for the construction of the city's future grand mosque. With a capacity of 2,600 men and 1,200 women, this religious building requires a budget of 40,000 DH. This mosque will be installed on an area of more than 5,200 m2, near the Twin Cities Park, not far from the Mohammedia prefecture headquarters.
In the sporting field, the renovation work on the El Bachir stadium and its cycle track is now 60% complete. The cost of this project is estimated at 762,000 dirhams. The El Alia stadium is also undergoing renovation. The commune is also planning, within the framework of a partnership with the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the launch of work on the indoor hall located on Zenata Boulevard and the completion of outstanding work on the sports and leisure centre.
Furthermore, city officials are launching work on the development of a roundabout in front of the City Hall. This will be able to regulate the very dense traffic in this part of Mohammedia. The project requires a total cost of 895,800 DH. In addition, the maintenance of roads and pavements is estimated at more than 4 million dirhams.
In the field of culture, a budget of approximately one million dirhams is reserved for the development of "Dar Attakafa". With a view to solving urban mobility problems and ensuring better traffic flow, the urban commune has scheduled the creation and maintenance of traffic lights for a budget of 725,748 DH. Added to this are the developments of the Green March Square at 2.419 million DH, the station garden at 588,897 DH, and the corniche at 1.481 million DH.
The Kasbah will also benefit from a facelift, the budget for which is estimated at 500,000 DH. Similarly, the commune headquarters will finally be completed. The work for the 2nd phase requires a budget of more than one million dirhams.
Social projects are also a priority for the commune, which has made a special effort in favour of its civil servants. In this context, 500 apartments have been planned within the framework of social housing, which will allow certain categories of people to benefit from decent 70 m2 housing. The contribution of the beneficiaries is set at 170,000 DH. These are all structuring projects that contribute to the harmonious and sustainable development of Mohammedia.
A visit was organised to Saint Jacques Church. On this occasion, speeches were delivered by the parish priest, the president of the Mohammedia Ulema Council, and the mayor of the city, highlighting the profound significance of this visit, a sign of peace, tolerance, dialogue, and solidarity. A group of young students from the Jean Monnet High School in Yvelines, Paris, participated in the activities organised during the visit to the Church and the ceremony for the presentation of the project for the construction of the future grand mosque of Mohammedia. Composed of 40 members and supervisors, this group is staying in Mansouria as part of a discovery trip, but also for exchange and social activities. The group undertook some improvements at a school in Mansouria.
