Kandar Sidi Khyar in the Province of Sefrou will host the 2nd edition of the International "Montagne'Arts" Festival from 10 to 13 September 2014, which will have as its theme this year: "The mountain, land of cultural diversity and rich heritage". This festival, initiated by the Association of Mountain Populations-Morocco section (APMM-Morocco) and the Association of Mountain Arts Festivals (AFAM), aims to recreate an international village representing the four Moroccan mountain ranges and three international ones; but also to make mountain culture known, promote mountain art, and contribute to the development of the mountains and their inhabitants. Thus, for four days, a panel of artists and troupes will offer visitors musical, artistic, and cultural discoveries by multiplying bridges between the different forms of expression of the populations of the Moroccan mountains and those of the world. Indeed, a large Italian delegation, which includes, in addition to Italian mountain troupes, artists and members of local mountain cooperatives, will take part in this 2014 edition. Furthermore, a rich programme is proposed, where the mythical, the mystical, the artistic, and the knowledge of mountain populations mingle. On the menu, therefore, are evenings of dance and song; poetry; Fantasia; tastings of typical mountain dishes; exhibitions of local products and handicrafts from the mountains of Morocco and the World; a parade of traditional costumes... Also on the programme for this event are thematic conferences and training workshops for farmers, traditional mountain sports games, visits to archaeological sites, and the development of solidarity tourism and fair trade. "This 2nd edition will reflect the many faces of Morocco's mountains and its cultural links with the outside world, through music, songs, dance, gastronomy, costumes, handicrafts, painting, and traditional mountain games," explain the organisers.
