This event of international scale, organised by the Royal Moroccan Triathlon Federation (FRMTRI) and Madaëf Sports & Events (MSE), under the High Patronage of HM King Mohammed VI, will bring together more than 26 nationalities, including the 10 best triathletes in the world (5 men and 5 women), and 3 Moroccan participants who will come to compete for qualifying points for the world ranking as well as qualification for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games, the organisers announced during a press conference held on Monday in Rabat.
In an address for the occasion, the president of the FRMTRI, Majid Amahroq, affirmed that SaĂŻdia is preparing to host a "high-level" event, welcoming the fact that this is the first Triathlon World Cup to take place in Africa.
He added that Morocco will participate with a team composed of three athletes, namely, Jawad Abdelmoula, Badr Siwane, and Marouane Abbassi, specifying that they will compete to climb in the international ranking in view of the 2028 Olympics.
In parallel, the Oriental city will host the first stage of the national amateur championship, as well as an aquathlon dedicated to young people, which will be an opportunity for them to live a unique experience to progress and distinguish themselves.
The competition course has been set up to offer the public a quality spectacle, as part of an event composed of three disciplines: 1.5 kilometres of swimming, 40 kilometres of cycling, and 10 kilometres of running.
The Moulay El Hassan Triathlon World Cup is part of the dynamic of development of triathlon and sporting events in Morocco, while strengthening the positioning of SaĂŻdia Mediterrania, and more broadly of the Kingdom, as a leading sporting and tourist destination.
