El Karia, a town abandoned

The town of El Karia, which still encircles the city of Sidi Bennour, is unrecognisable today. It is now dilapidated and disfigured by anarchic and wild urbanisation that in no way respects the general interest. Currently, this shanty town, which has expanded, is marked by the absence of appropriate infrastructure and roads. Potholes and crevices of all kinds make these roads so impassable that only donkeys pulling carts can make their way through.Wastewater flows right in the middle of the road. Makeshift stables are set up in the middle of the town. Rubbish piles up, attracting flies and mosquitoes, as cleaning companies rarely pass by.
