Ivorian Documentary Film Festival Cherqui Ameur chairs the jury
Demonstration Film director and critic Cherqui Ameur will chair the jury of the first edition of the Ivorian Documentary Film Festival (FICID), scheduled in Abidjan, Ivory Coast, from October 22 to 24, 2026. Cherqui Ameur, who is among the most active Moroccan critics in the field of African cinema and culture, will chair a jury composed of eminent personalities from the worlds of culture and art. This is the first festival entirely dedicated to the promotion and dissemination of documentary cinema in Ivory Coast. The organisers of this event, which includes training workshops, meetings, and film screenings, aim to foster wider dissemination of documentary works, encourage younger generations to take an interest in them, and promote the emergence of new talents. Some twenty films will compete for five official awards: the Grand Prix of the festival (feature film), the Award for Best Ivorian Documentary (feature film), the Award for Best International Documentary (feature film), the Award for Best Documentary from Schools and Institutes (short film), and the Award for Best Documentary by Promising Talents (short film).
